Many artists believe that anything that their past selves created or performed could be improved by their present selves, and they would be willing to admit corrections or improvements in their work that they would never tolerate from an editor or producer. How to distract them from this? By inviting them to take on new challenges. Contrafogos is a creative and performance residency programme open to public viewing, in an installation context, with music developed using a three-dimensional sound technology known as Ambisonics. The proposed theme is Transfiguration. Contrafogos aims to cause strangeness, decontextualize, defamiliarize the public that attends and listens to concerts, and that visits exhibitions. The goal is to delight, to encourage neuronal, physical, sensual sensitisation, to mobilise the audience towards the innovation of the aesthetic proposal to be experienced. For the creative residency artists, the goal is to open up new perspectives and to generate new possibilities for artistic intervention.
